«Tropical Triste», eines der im OOR RECORDS vertretenen, kreierten Musikgenres/Plattenfächern wurde von DJ Soulsonic und DJ Fred Hystère in Form eines DJ-Mixes auf Tape interpretiert. Inhaltlich-musikalisch beschäftigten sich Soulsonic und Hystère mit Fragen von westlicher Projektion und Fantasien auf Musikalitäten im tropischen Raum, transatlantischen, sonischen Bewegungen und Melancholien von Aneignungsstrategien.
Gestalterisch umgesetzt wurde das Tape und A1 Poster von dem Zürcher Grafiker Ivan Sterzinger (Rote Fabrik Zeitung, Rap History), der mit schwarz-marmoriertem, siebbedrucktem Bucheinbindepapier für Kassettenhülle und Poster die Referenz auf Levi-Strauss’ Ausgabe von «Triste Tropiques» von 1957 aufspannte.
«Triste Tropiques» wurde in der ethnographischen Forschung als Wendepunkt hin zu einer subjektiveren Forschungspraxis gelesen, welche in sich die «objektive» Position des Wissenschaftlers in Frage stellt, und heute zu einer der grundlegensten Fragen in der postkolonialen Theorie zählt. Diese «subjektive» Position hat Levi-Strauss selbst jedoch nie vertreten, mit dem Buch nie intendiert und entschieden abgelehnt.
Die Fragen inwiefern Werke ihre eigenen Wege gehen und Geschichtsschreibung, abgelöst von Autorschaft, durch ihre Rezension und Kombination mitbestimmen, wann Aneignung problematisch wird, oder wie sie verbindend und erweiternd sein kann und wie dazu getanzt werden kann sind Fragen die in diese beiden, sehr unterschiedlichen Mixes und der Gestaltung der Edition miteingeflossen sind.
