OOR freut sich ungemein euch zu einer Soirée Percussive ins kleine OOR zu laden. Die singapurische Perkussionistin Cheryl Ong wird eine Auswahl chinesischer Perkussion zum klingen bringen und die aus Genf angereiste Beatrice Graf bespielt ihre «Batteries de Bric et de broc», ein aus diversen perkussiven und alltäglichen Gegenständen zusammengesetztes Klanglabor.
Davor und danach spielen DJ Na-ah und Fred Hystère «Percussion only» ab Vinyl und wie immer gibts Drinks!

Cheryl Ong (Singapore)
Cheryl Ong is a singaporean percussionist who is active in music performance and education.
Cheryl graduated with a degree in Chinese Percussion from the Central Conservatory of Music, Beijing. Though classically trained, Cheryl consistently struggles with the fact that classical music can be divisive and limited to its roles. Tired of being a mere technician, Cheryl has gone on to explore improvisational and experimental practices in recent years, hunting down new ideas and sounds. She’s always up for playing, bucking trends and going broke.
Her recent performances include 'Kombo' (CTM Festival 2019, Berlin) where she improvised with Southeast Asian and Berlin-based musicians; 'Nusasonic' (2018, Yogyakarta), where she did a residency and performance with 3 other improvisers from various parts of Southeast Asia, and as one of the live performers in Zai Tang’s immersive 'Spectre' installation (Singapore International Festival of the Arts, 2017). Cheryl also features on the Syrphe label release, Not Your World Music: Noise in SouthEast Asia, created as a companion compilation to the namesake 2016 book by Cedrik Fermont & Dimitri della Faille. Cheryl Ong regularly performs with the avant rock group The Observatory. She is a recipient of the National Arts Council Arts Bursary.

Beatrice Graf (Genève) – Batteries de bric et de broc
«Laboratoire sonore préservé, sorte de jardin secret où s’entremêlent objets du quotidien, finesse/délicatesse insoupçonnée de matériaux incongrus, martèlements percussifs métaliques, etc …Comme un voyage au travers de la musicalité des objets de tous les jours, un bric-à-brac sonore surprenant.»

Béatrice Graf ist Schlagzeugerin, Perkussionistin, Improvisatorin, Klangforscherin und Komponistin. Sie lebt und arbeitet in Genf. Graf arbeitet mit und in einer Vielzahl von Stilen und Konfigurationen und gerne ungewöhnlicher Instrumentierung. In eigenen Projekten und Kollaborationen sowohl in Jazz-, Experimental-, Impro-, Punk- und elektronischen Musikkontexten ist Graf zu Hause, und hat im Laufe der Jahre einen sehr eigenen Klangstil entwickelt. Seit 10 Jahren macht sie ebenso Musik für Theaterprojekte, begleitet Tänzer_innen, und spielt im zeitgenössischen Kunstkontext. Graf studierte bis 1989 Jazz am Conservatoire Populaire de Musique de Genève. Gemeinsam mit der Bündner Bassistin Martina Berther ist sie mit der Kombo Ester Poly unterwegs. Sie trat auf internationalen Festivals auf und gab Konzerte in der Schweiz, Österreich, Tschechien, Deutschland, Italien, Belgien, Grossbritannien, Frankreich, Liechtenstein, Russland, Nord- und Lateinamerika sowie auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent. Sie hat Tonträger auf Labels wie Altrisuoni, Enja Records oder Ikarus Records veröffentlicht.
